MyPyramid Healthy Eating Tips for Kids:


  • Regularly choose whole-grain foods such as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal and low-fat popcorn
  • Vary your veggies. Eat a variety of vegetables especially those that are dark green and orange
  • Enjoy fruits. Eat fruits for meals and snacks. Limit fruit juice.
  • Get your calcium. Build strong bones by enjoying low-fat and fat-free milk products each day
  • Choose lean protein. Eat lean or low-fat meat and poultry. Enjoy beans and peas.
  • Choose healthy oils such as corn, soybean, canola and olive oil for cooking
  • Avoid extra sugar. Choose foods that do not have sugar and caloric sweeteners as one of the first ingredients. Avoid sugary drinks

Orphanage

An orphanage by definition is an organization setup for the residential care of abandoned children either by death or other cause of the childs natural parents or guardians. There is not a requirement to provide therapeutic treatment however they must operate as a 24 hour supervised residential environment for the primary care of children. Typically an orphanage qualifies to have its meals reimbursed as long as the following exist:

Documentation needed to participate

  • Facility license issued by an approved State Agency
  • IRS letter stating tax exempt status under code 501c3
  • Children 18 years of age and younger, or 21 years of age and younger if enrolled in an approved high school program
