MyPyramid Healthy Eating Tips for Kids:


  • Regularly choose whole-grain foods such as whole-wheat bread, oatmeal and low-fat popcorn
  • Vary your veggies. Eat a variety of vegetables especially those that are dark green and orange
  • Enjoy fruits. Eat fruits for meals and snacks. Limit fruit juice.
  • Get your calcium. Build strong bones by enjoying low-fat and fat-free milk products each day
  • Choose lean protein. Eat lean or low-fat meat and poultry. Enjoy beans and peas.
  • Choose healthy oils such as corn, soybean, canola and olive oil for cooking
  • Avoid extra sugar. Choose foods that do not have sugar and caloric sweeteners as one of the first ingredients. Avoid sugary drinks

Center Based Adult Care Center

This type of center typically provides scheduled care for adults who are not able to care for themselves. They may be Alzheimer care centers or the like. They are not convalescent hospitals or residential centers for adults. A Center Based Adult Care Center may also be open to provide 24 hour care as long as the care is not considered residential. There are several approved configurations of these organizations to receive funding for meals served.

Non-Profit Adult Care Center

  • Licensed by an approved State Agency or greater to provide scheduled care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory adults
  • Tax exempt status under IRS code 501c3
  • Authorization from Executive Board of Directors to participate in funding programs.

Corporate For Profit Adult Care Center

  • Licensed by an approved State Agency or greater to provide scheduled care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory adults
  • Twenty five percent (25%) of active enrollment or greater receive subsidized care or come from income eligible families as documented by current government income guidelines.
  • Authorization from Executive Board of Directors to participate in funding programs.
  • Approved documentation of corporate status

Proprietary For Profit Adult Care Center (Sole Proprietor)

  • Licensed by an approved State Agency or greater to provide scheduled care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory adults
  • Twenty five percent (25%) of active enrollment or greater receive subsidized care or come from income eligible families as documented by current government income guidelines.

Public Non-Profit Adult Care Center

  • Licensed by an approved State Agency or greater to provide scheduled care to ambulatory and non-ambulatory adults
  • Authorization from Executive Board of Directors to participate in funding programs or letter signed by highest ranking board member authorizing participation in funding programs.
